pdf.xhub is a small, focused team building a developer-first PDF Generator API for engineering teams that need EU residency without paperwork gymnastics. We started this because we needed it ourselves — and the alternatives kept routing data through the wrong continent.
Why we built this
Every PDF API we evaluated forced our data through US infrastructure. Schrems II made that a compliance risk we couldn’t pass to our customers, and the legal-review cycle for each new vendor cost us weeks per audit. So we built our own — Frankfurt, Paris, end of story.
Along the way the surface grew. Customers needed not just HTML-to-PDF but URL capture, Markdown reports, AcroForm filling, and EU-mandate E-Invoices (ZUGFeRD, XRechnung, Factur-X). We unified the lot under a single /v1/render endpoint with one auth model, one webhook model, one async-batch pattern.
We are funded out of operating revenue from sister product BeeBack, which means the roadmap is shaped by paying customers, not by VC quarterly check-ins. That’s the deal — boring, sustainable, and ours.

What we believe
Render workers in Frankfurt and Paris. No US fallback in the invoice path. DPA + SCCs included on every paid plan, not gated behind enterprise sales.
Self-serve from free to enterprise. Pricing pages tell the truth. No 'contact us' to know what something costs until you're well past 50k docs/month.
OpenAPI 3.1 as the source of truth. SDKs generated from the spec, not hand-rolled. Versioned API surface — we publish breaking changes in the changelog and never silently ship them.
We're not aiming for an acquisition. The plan is to grow steadily, stay independent, and still be running this API in ten years. Boring is the point.
